Thermal desorption is the process of heating a material to volatilize the chemical compounds held within that material.  Thermal desorption tubes (TDT) are the means by which this is accomplished, allowing collection of an air sample in one location and analysis via a variety of instrument options at another location.  TDTs are convenient and easy to use with a diverse range of applications, leading to their popularity in general air quality surveys, indoor air investigations, and industrial process applications. Below are a few of the benefits of using TDTs.
  • Low detection limits, better sensitivity
  • Stable sample collection
  • More accurate assessment of air quality (more compounds)
  • Easy shipping
  • Long shelf life and hold time

  • Air Sampling
    • VOCs: EPA TO17, NIOSH 2549, and ISO 16000-6
    • Formaldehdye: Hantzsch, or acetylacetone, method
  • Material Off Gas Sampling
    • ASTM D7706 and D5116
  • Stack Testing
    • EPA 320

  • Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GCMS)
  • Fourier Transfrom Infra Red (FTIR) Spectroscopy
  • Fluorescent Spectroscopy (FS)
