Cost-effective screening tool to determine
21 specific MVOCs plus TVOCs
IAQ professionals are keenly aware of the importance of controlling mold and total VOCs (TVOCs) in indoor air. Mold and TVOCs affect productivity, employee disposition, and lost workdays.
MoldScan™Plus is Prism’s most cost-effective screening tool for the detection of microbial metabolites known as Mold VOCs (MVOCs) in buildings where molds are a concern. MVOCs can cause irritation and allergic reactions, but, more importantly, MVOCs are biomarkers for molds that produce toxins that may adversely affect health. These toxins can cause severe allergic reactions and respiratory irritation and may exacerbate asthma symptoms or other respiratory
ailments. Metabolic mold activity can occur in or on air ducts, wood cellulose, fiber, insulation, wallboard, evaporator coolers, concrete/ masonry, ceiling tiles, and in many other places.
Using Prism’s TDT Air Scan® technology, air is sampled through a proprietary multi-matrix sorption tube which is then sent to the Prism laboratory for the quantitative identification of 21 specific MVOCs. In addition to determining the level of mold contamination, TVOCs are also reported. If the TVOC level is high, a full 350+ compound TDT Air Scan analysis can be requested for an additional charge. There is no need to take another sample, and, since the TVOC level is known, you know ahead of time that the results from the additional analysis will be useful. The added assurance that valuable information will be available if the additional analysis is requested gives you the confidence that you are doing the best job possible for your company or client.
Advantages of MoldScan™ Plus
• Establishes baseline for microbial activity
• Establishes science-based reports for MVOCs and TVOCs in your buildings
• Detects molds without visual contact or spore sampling
• High sensitivity – detects MVOCs to <60 parts per trillion
• Cuts analysis turnaround time in half relative to culturing of mold spores
• Eliminates need for structural destruction to search for microbial growth
•
Low-cost survey; optional 350+ compound TDT Air Scan® analysis available
• More useful data with both MVOC and TVOC levels reported
